So its 11.40 now and i think i will wanna hit the bed soon and that's quite rare, but i've given up on trying to do econs so might as well go meet the sandman. Anyway, caught Shifting Gears tonight and I must admit it has brought about new found respect for Raffles Players, above all the entertainment. Tonight's production showcased the very professional organisation and coordination between each and every one of them. And it also highlighted the diverse actors RP had and how they could take on so many different roles and successfully protray each of them.

Oh i shall be nice, spoilers below.

But heck, you're not getting another chance to watch it again anyway.

The first item - Where. I felt it was a very cliche storyline but quite interesting to see the use of the 4-guys-in-a-car concept and the use of media was also great. Just one thought, the booklet synopsis mentioned that one of the characters was a pregnant girl but the show almost made no indication of this whatsoever.

Since it was a doublebill, the next "Shifting" was a hour and a half long (i think) show that was quite draining to watch cause it was so long and it was a long day. But this one was really good and you could tell the humongous amount of effort put in. The stage and set was meticulously put up and impressive how they got so many pieces of furniture. It was also at times humourous especially with the maid shit and at times quite o.O with the not-so-clean dialogue but it was entertaining nonetheless.

I think the concept of using moving house was a basis to highlight how sometimes change disrupts our life big time. Most of us take moving house for granted (partly cause in normal circumstances, one should not be moving oh so often) but moving residence signifies a change to a brand new environment. And for some it signals something more than that. To some it signals a change in social status, moving to gain something greater, as was the case of the aunt and her nephew. As for the other family, moving was for a "new beginning", something new. And for the couple, moving was to get away from something, in their case the mum. But in all the cases, they believed that moving house would bring them something or put them somewhere better than what they have or where they are now. And in the end they realise that they did not get what they were sold.

And isn't life sometimes like this? You search high and low, pay a high price to get something you think is truly much better only to realise that what you already have is already really good.

One thing i can't figure is the rolling of the sleeve when the individual parties were to sign for the house(s).

And so i'm pleased to announce that i've survived two hours in the PAC without a jacket and without freezing my butt off which is truly an accomplishment. Either they figured how to reduce the aircon temperature or the aircon was not functioning proper. But i have no complaints, watching a play in subartic conditions totally kills the enjoyment of it all.
