News of the week
Basically the week didnt have much happening. So news of the week is basically news of today.
So in our main news, we report straight from the bishan-braddell area. The day started with the CNY celebrations at rj. Intersting change from the sit-in-the-hall-and-watch-the-stage kind of celebrations, rj basically left us to our own devices and had a whole cny performance feste kinda thing. So there was lion dance where the lean (o.O) and mean nevillenah came back and performed as lion for the drinks stall auntie. Somemore he wanted to borrow shin bin's mahjong tiles to arrange into a formation
So theres "fa" on the north, south, east and west. The four "wan" tiles are there to represent four auspicious numbers that the lions were to give. But sorry lah, never lend you, cause had to rush off and somemore the tiles not mine.
So justina, lynette, hannah, shin bin and nazirul trooped down to my house and we promptly began our game of mahjong. We even managed to teach nazirul how to play... how pro is that?!
The mahjong sessions ended quite swiftly as shin bin had to leave early. Then we watched memoirs of a geisha and a little of crimson tide before they all left.
Next, we review reports from our safety correspondent.
It has been brought to our attention that Ms Hannah Chua had a near death experience today at j8. I was walking at the front of the group and we were along the corridor between mos burger and macdonalds. There is a glass door there that had one panel open and the other closed. And all of a sudden, i head a "bam" sound. Turning around, i saw hannah's mouth at the glass. To all of you too dull to comprehend this incident, she basically walked into the door. Quite remarkable. Afterwards, she was rather traumatised and was in tears between hysterical laughter. We wish her all the best.
Next, we receive word that Mr Loh Wei Quan (aka quan) almost died today as well. He spoke to me on the phone while i gave him directions to my home. And all of a sudden he exclaimed: "Whoa i nearly got knocked down!". Well done quan. I don't know how you managed that on a pedestrian pavement, must be saw chio bu or chio guy as a matter of fact. We wish him all the best.
In gourmet news, Justin-ah cooked lunch today.
Lunch was an extremely exciting affair of pasta in tomato sauce and campbell corn soup. Apparently, everyone agreed it was passable despite the fact that 1 bottle of sauce was used for half a packet of pasta. And quan seemed visibly impressed/awed/wowed that justin-ah can cook. So it was passable by everyone's standards. But what do a bunch of hungry and visibly starved 17 year olds know abt taste anyway.
In entertainment news, watched memoirs of a geisha today.
To put it nicely, no one should be faulted for sleeping through it. To put it bluntly, it was an insult to the book to have the movie associated to it. Firstly, for some unknown reason, they had to make it in english. And never mind if it was english, but it was really crappily accented english that made the whole movie more of a comedy than anything. Next, either zhang ziyi didnt act well or the script was poorly planned but it just failed to bring out the characters of mameha, sayuri, hatsumomo, mother and auntie. Simply put, you cannot understand the story unless you have been through the book. What pisses me to no end is really the retardedly accented english which makes a mockery of the revered art that geisha practice.
In money news, played mahjong today.
Didnt "hu" a single time.
Enough said.
Finally, health news.
Decided that the doctor was missing out a lot of festive cheer, i decided to go and bai nian to the doctor after sending the ppl off at braddell mrt. The doctor greeted me with a rather bo chap look and concluded that i had the flu. So here i am left feeling significantly miserable for the CNY and instead of angbao, have recieved an armada of tablets from the doctor. Gong xi fa cai lor.
Thats the end of the news tonight. Selamat chinese new year to all. Here's wishing all every year got fish, heart think thing happen, ten thousand things happen according to your wishes and dragon horse spirit.
P.S. to muthu and those concerned. THIS is how a bowl of tangyuan should look like. And its consumed on the last day of the lunar new year with ur family. Not like on a weekend in ubin. Lol.
But at least they had the heart to painstakingly make the tangyuan lah.
