1461 days gone by
Unlike many people who were probably rushing to blog the last post of 2005, i decided to do a first post for 2006 and possibly spare blogspot from a server crash. Well, the truth is that last night was spent watching jackie chan's jian3 dan1 ren4 wu4 and then another show starring tony leung who is a conman medium and chen xiao dong as some conman monk, dada.
Somehow jackie chan movies rock. No matter how poor the plot, how old the movie or how many times it's been repeated, it is always good to revisit a jackie chan show. Perhaps it's because its something to most (or else all) guys (and possibly gals) grew up watching. Its our comfort food (show). Even my cousin who has migrated for 5 years still revels in jackie chan movies especially during the festive period. I guess Jackie Chan can take heart in the fact that his films have left a legacy that will be remembered by our generation.
But, i digress.
2005 has passed and with that passing, it marks the end of 4 years in RI. Its almost surreal that i am now here, staring at the four memorable years gone by that truly shape a guy's life (or destiny). When we entered in Sec 1, it seemed that we would never get to this stage of passing, of feeling old and of certain regrets. It's interesting to think if you had a choice again, what CCA would you like to place yourself in, to try out. (Core or merit also can). My answer another day.
It's really interesting how in the short course of 4 years, how many paths your life has crossed with, how many interactions with different groups of people. My lower sec class, then upper sec class, npcc, interact, house, and people that you just get to know. Its realli funny how sometimes one forgets how you got to know certain people. Like the uniformed group people who became good acquaintances without any formal introduction, i guess we just saw the similar bonds that we shared and all its quite cool. People like huanyong, zhuoyi, hadi, kenneth loo, bong, tim chow etc.
But deep inside i think the group of people who have really left deep footprints in my life would be the np guys, especially muthu, pau, teddy, wei jie, willy and those that bb tea wif me. =) I guess time really does wonders. 4 years of going through thick and thin together, albeit only once a week. You begin sec 1 and sec 2 bascically threading the line, doing the bare essentials and not really daring to go out and bond. But in sec 3 and 4, once you get work to do, responsibilities to helm, i guess its just great that you have a bunch of friends that you can trust and count on support from.
The magic of uniform groups is perhaps not the campcraft, cooking, the activities or the drills but the bonds you forge knowing that these people have been with you through your triumps and down points. The (almost) weekly bubble tea sessions do help when we tock abt np, tock cock and just hang around. Its really a good testament to our batch that for chalet, even those guys who have been slacking or not so on for np, they will still make it a point to come down and stay as a batch. No matter what CCA we go to in RJ, rock on lah and may we meet up again.
So what better way to usher in the new year than with a good meal. So today went to nydc with yizhang, yongsheng, brent, nelson, daniel, winston and kenneth to reap the fruits of our labour. Had a three amigos baked rice and the spy sundae. Note to self: do not order e=mc2, parmesan mushroom pasta, mushroom attack and iced almond elephanchino. Sundaes are only so-so.
Happy new year to all. (Dinner's waiting, there's shepherd pie. Tis the season to be eating)
