"the chase"
Yesterday was probably one of the most strenuous/fun/packed christmas eves i've had. I dunno why or wad make me spontaneously agree to go to daniel lum's church for some amazing race thingy. But with a $150 nydc voucher as top prize i guess it wouldn't be a waste of time. Anyway had no activity planned in the day, only dinner with family at evening so great way to spend time in an otherwise boring week.
So we started our rendezvous at the totally uncreative RI 156 bus stop. Winston and Nelson were already there when i reach. Then daniel came followed by yizhang and kenneth kong who came together. Surprisingly daniel got yongsheng to replace benny and brent came last.
After wad seemed like forever and a short briefing, we finally got moving. Our group, being all guys realli had a good chance of winning and since all were from same class (except kenneth. And a daniel loke from daniel LUM's church joined our group. apparently he is yizhang's ex classmate), we had a really high chance of winning. So everyone was really damn hype and energetic.
The game required us to go along the NEL from douby ghaut back to serangoon and at each station complete a task, recieve a piece of a bible verse (in chinese!!!) and get back to bartley christian church. At douby ghaut we were required to get items starting with the letters that can form the word "christmas". Quite easy actually if u get the instructions. Unfortunately we quite stunned when the guy was explaining, so it took awhile for us to make sense of things. That was over and done with quick enuff and we rushed off to Little India.
Here we had to find 2 passers-by and sing christmas song to them. Well we being quite shy just stood contemplating our prey (or targets). Then this irish couple came down and i just dunno why just ask them lah. They gamely agreed and took a few photos with us. So that was accomplished.
Next stop was farrer park. This was the worst for us. We were supposed to form stories with each of us contributing no more than 3 words. Our theme was "chinese food". Now that is quite an ok theme but our story was totally wtf. and we had to do the number of hands. legs, butts on ground and pose for picture thingy which wasnt very nice lah ours. So nvm...we moved on.
Came over to boon keng and the storyline was mrt station of fire. must crack code to save pple. Its basically the A=1, B=2 and so on lah. standard stuff. solved it in 1 minute and then took photo. This one was all done in like 5 mins. So great job ah.
Then it was potong pasir. This was my favourite station. Each given a few words or phrases and using them all must make a story. So kenneth kong the crap talker just got the whole story going in less than a minute. The whole group was damn spontaneous. I am tired now so won't retell the damn cock story here. Basically everyone was in stitches at the end of it.
Finally returned to serangoon. Had to run (!!) to bus interchange and count the total of all the bus service signs. Answer was 4212. Took quite long lah coz we were disorganised. So basically posed for a realli creative and cool photo (my idea thank you) and then had to run all the freaking 1km plus back to the church.
The group was realli great and thats an understatement. We were so enthusiastic and running at every opportunity. I can surely say this one bore the most sense of satisfaction compared to all the amazing race and hikes in np camps. The final part where we ran in a little heavy rain was really like a victory run and the whole group was just damn on.
So naturally being so enthu we reached back first and thankfully won the first prize. I guess everyone was quite surprised that an "outside" group won the race but well new friends were made nonetheless. The skit back in church was also extremely funny and script was well written.
So am now a professional amazing racer ah. If theres an amazing race singapore or something i will be ready to whoop ass man.
Merry christmas folks. Merry had a little lamb.

Merry christmas folks. Merry had a little lamb.

Merry had a little lamb? No offense, but lame. Try 'Santa baby, I'm gonna getcha good! It's Like That!' See? Madonna, Shania and Mariah in one sentence.
