First day of lessons

Yesterday was the first day of "lessons" but all the lectures just happened to be boring little introductions to the course of work for the year. Econs looks interesting, bio looks more intimidating than expected and chem was just ok lah. But as with the past two days, it was raining non stop and that basically meant that Singapore was seemingly experiencing a state of winter. That's quite sweet except that the perpetual rain means that a whole bunch of rjc students were basically sieged in RJ with little supplies to sustain us (unless you count potato salads and ice lemon tea).

So i decided to camp at the library and wait for the rain to subside. The library in RJ is, like many other parts of RJ, very administrative looking. It lacks the relaxing atmosphere that makes the RI library perfect for sleeping. So when i saw that the skies have decided to take a temporary break from their day long leak, i left the library only to find the rain starting the moment i was out of shelter. How -.-

Then i returned home only to find myself inclined to concuss in bed (no thanks to the weather). As i was about to meet zhou gong, there came a shrill scream from some other blocks that probably reverberated around the whole braddell, rjc, bishan, ang mo kio, toa payoh. So i thought i could ren3 but the perpetrator seemed bent to continue until half of singapore lost their hearing. And mind you this was no ordinary scream (of excitement/pain/for fun), it was a very freaky young-girl scream that seemed straight out of the exorcisim of emily rose. So i got up and looked out of the window and immediately saw a bunch of sch kids playing soccer on top of the carpark roof. Thus i was about to throw my pillow/slipper/flower pot/anything solid to basically shut them up when i realised macho pri sch boys have no reason to be screaming unless their soccer ball fell off the carpark and killed someone or a girl molested them. Then i heard them shouting at some random direction "eh shut up lah!". And that was exactly what i wanted to shout anyway, sweet. Anyway afterawhile, the screaming ceased and all was well.

Then this morning i heard some shouting. Not the ah-beng-want-to-fight-kind of shouting but the mob-of-female-fans-irrationally-cheering-male-idol kind of shouting. They were like "Go (insert name here) go!" "We love you (insert above mentioned name here)!". And considering that my estate was neither a airport erminal nor a indoor stadium nor a motorcade route, the shouting was incredibly odd. Unless they were cheering for the umm security guard or cleaner as they went about their daily duties. Lol.

Ok enough whining.

Last night had a heart to heart chat with james lee and its great to know that great friends exist even when you don't speak to them for a long time. Hopefully, more good friends can go join odac together and then we can all have good fellowship.

And as i felt quite jaded last night, thinking of all the og mates that were not so active, i came across this famous and often quoted proverb:

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference – reinhold niebuhr

And i really felt it speaking to me. It's as if God was telling me to just leave it all in his hands and not to think too much about it. Everything will be fine.
