hope

Surely but sadly, orientation came to an end. This orientation can be said to be very remarkable in a number of ways. It wasn't as discipline oriented as sec 1 in serimbun, nor was it as adventurous as OBS in sec 3. Also, for once, orientation wasn't a stayover camp.

Even though there were quite few activities - mainly station games which spanned 2 days, war games and dance prep. Despite the fact that most groups basically slacked through the external event. And despite the very fact that storyline kinda sucked, Z'Kardia did serve its purpose as an orientation camp. And it served it well.

Its no mean feat getting 20 guys and girls who were complete strangers to become chummy with each other just in 4 days. And the results of orientation was quite remarkable. From a guy's perspective, it managed to get hundreds of freaking tired guys to go out for dinner everynite and then return home at 11pm. What more get them to wear gay togas/towels/fairy suits and whatnots. And the atmosphere created by the mass dance is simply magnificent. I believe all this credit is due to the OGLs.

I started orientation with quite a lot of information, in no small measure thanks to woo chiao. From teddy, i knew quan and liben were quite funny people and nazirul and poey were quite pleasant so I was extremely contented even though kahwei was in my og.

The OG was quite stony on the first day but it was perhaps uplifting that we at least bothered to dine together compared to other OGs that just zao home the moment they heard "dismissed". Second day and third day wasn't too good because the OG was still quite indecisive and stuff especially regarding the costume. BUt fourth day really saw a big change. Some genius just suggested using face paint and everyone spontaneously agreed. It saved the day considering we had well under 45 minutes to prepare our "costume". Its just great to see the og so spirited at the end of the day and doing crazy stuff together. I am really thankful for that. The only thing that i regret is not having enough time to interact with the quieter members of the group, especially the girls. But nevermind, theres still one more slack week and a p holiday.

But what is potentially upsetting is that the OG might fade apart in future. From the seniors i asked, they all said that their OG kinda faded after a while. It is not surprising then since there will be cca mates, class mates and other friends to bond with. But realli i might be being a little pessimistic by looking way too forward, but i am nevertheless quite afraid that our OG will just break away in future.

Another sad thing is growing old. Yes i am feeling that though i am like barely 17. AS i sat and watched the skits and the dances on O nite, i realised that JC's gonna be realli the last years that you can do such crazy stuff, that you can like put up a funny (and albeit corny) skit, do whacky dances and just have a good time. I mean when you progress to work, what you will end up with is at most gatherings with friends during the festive period and perhaps doing hobbies together. Now i realise why when seniors enter JC, they really start resisting growing old. Especially the guys, who at the end of JC2 face the prospect of NS...

In other news, i have learnt something new over the course of the past 5 days. That girls are incredible at shopping. RI guys have perhaps a subconscious duty to show all our new schoolmates around junction 8 and the hangouts. But yesterday the girls made us go to orchard to shop for a present for OGLs, that's why we had to eat humble pie. They brought us to some cute kiddie shop that sold a lot of classic wooden toys, then art friend in taka (i tot they only had a branch in bras basah). And there was spotlight. Although the guys felt quite out of place, it was quite fun la, seeing all these shops that we probably would never step into on our own.

And girls are quite meticulous and thorough when it comes to buying stuff. I mean justina said to meet at 2pm yesterday and that the group would have dinner together. I was quite surprised as to how on earth we will spend 5 hours shopping for presents. But well we took more than that.

Anyway off to write the messages for my og mates. There's CSI tonight so i better work fast.
