this one will be short. got stupid chem spa tmr which totally kills your mood. and i think i should start to take OP more seriously and be more dilligent.
anyway, caught Deathnote yesterday at vivocity and unlike other movies, this movie actually has a plot. and a good one. i shall not be an asshole and spoil the story for those who haven't caught it (actually, im just too tired to type the story out). the movie also had some subtler themes that was pretty interesting. like how absolute power, even when intended for just causes, is absolutely dangerous. as easy as it can be used to do good, it can be used to do bad, simply because absolute power goes unchecked. also it was pretty interesting how the lyuk, the deathgod, turned out to be somewhat like a voice of conscience to light.
what the hell does "vivo" mean anyway. a quick check with wikipedia says that "in vivo" means that which takes place in an organism. trust singapore to come up with complex names that no one has an inkling that which it means. like biennale. anyhow vivo city was totally ball freezing even along the corridors, considering how extremely large it is.
today is 31st october, ie halloween. and i finally found out that the chinese name for halloween is wan4 shen4 jie2, roughly translated into festival of ten thousand saints. don't ask why. so we had a halloween party tonight at sara's place which was pretty cool. it was a costume party and i was dressed as a pirate although there was a much more elaborately dressed pirate from sara's class. james was the dutiful grim ripper, complete with scythe. and that outfit kinda stopped a few cars and scared the shit out of a few people as we ran all over serangoon gardens trick-or-treating and completing our assigned "dares". talking about halloween, i think many singaporeans do not even know it exists and i hear uncles calling it zhong qiu jie or yuan xiao jie, which is so not true lor. and when approached for a trick or a treat, the people around the neighbourhood were being extremely singaporean and totally rejected us.
i guess halloween has evolved from being a festival about ghosts and allthingsscary to being a general festival where people dress up and have mad fun. and mad fun we had. be it climbing over walls to take photos on swings, or dancing gayly outside coffee bean, or buying and selling ice cream cone at macs, or sharing potato chips with ntuc cashier auntie or trying to buy rojak. it was pretty fun. sadly we probably won't be able to do the same thing next year.
i think i have more to talk about but shall save that for another post. till then. bye bye.
